Samuel Durso is the Jim and Patti Dresher and Dresher Foundation Professor, and the Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Medicine for Johns Hopkins University and the Director of the Department of Medicine for the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.  His prior roles in the Division included Fellowship Program Director, Clinical Director, Director of Education, and Director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology.  His clinical concentration is on caring for older adults with complex health needs in the office and hospital settings. His academic concentration is on teaching, program development in education, and clinical care.

Dr. Durso graduated with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 1978, did his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama Teaching Hospitals from 1979 - 1981, and earned his MBA from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2007.  He was in private practice in Columbia, SC until he joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 1995.
