Dr. Zare holds a PhD in health policy and management. He is an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His independent program of research on understanding the etiology of police violence, place-based disparities in policing, racial disparities, income inequality- and race-related disparities in population health outcomes encompasses three areas: (1) place-, and race-based disparities and police behaviors, more specifically, on police shootings (2) place-based disparities, income inequality, and racial disparities and health outcomes (chronic conditions; obesity, depression, and hypertension); and (3) hospitals' contributions to communities and their impact on reducing poverty, disparities and improving health outcomes.
