In a recent JAMA Internal Medicine Viewpoint, Nadanovsky et al1 describe the current landscape of “Too Much Dentistry,” making the argument that most dental care in the US is less influenced by evidence-based medicine as it is by economic pressures, professional training, and patient expectations. The authors assert that there is an overarching trend in overdiagnosis and overtreatment in dental care. Contrary to this assertion regarding an excess of dentistry, the reality for patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) is starkly different.
