Earth Day with HHS Sec. Xavier Becerra
Addressing the healthcare sector’s carbon footprint
Secretary
Department of Health and Human Services
Xavier Becerra is the 25th Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and the first Latino to hold the office in the history of the United States.
The Hopkins Business of Health Initiative welcomes Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Health and Human Services, for a fireside chat about health and climate – the threat to human health, the challenge of environmental justice and the administration’s unprecedented efforts to help hospitals and health systems reduce their own considerable carbon footprint.
After the conversation with the secretary, we will host a panel discussion with voices from inside health care – how the industry and health care providers are trying to bring about change. With the health sector currently responsible for 8.5 percent of the country’s greenhouse emissions, it’s a big task.
